Kathy Brandt, President: BA in English, MA in Rhetoric from the University of Colorado. Kathy is the author of four novels in the Hannah Sampson mystery series. She and her son, Max, have just completed work on a memoir about bipolar disorder. Before becoming a full-time writer, Kathy taught writing at the University of Colorado for ten years and free-lanced for various publications.
Judy Ostenberg, Vice-President: BA in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado (Colorado State College). Judy taught elementary school in California. She has taught Family-to-Family classes and volunteered for NAMI in several other areas. Judy has done extensive volunteering in wide ranging areas as an Army wife and for school, church and community.
Cheryl Stine, Secretary: MA in Counseling and Human Services from University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Cheryl is a Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, and Colorado Certified Addictions Counselor, CAC III. She has been a mental health counselor, supervisor, and program manager at AspenPointe Health Services since 1997. She currently serves as a member of the Regional Advisory Council to the Area Agency on Aging and on the ARCH (Adult Resources for Care and Help) Advisory Council.
Cheryl and her husband Jon have 2 children and 4 granddaughters.
Mike Davis, Treasurer: BEE, MSEE. Mike was in electrical engineering and management at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies and is currently a Principal with Techzecs, LLC. He volunteers with Marian House Soup Kitchen, and was on the boards of United Way CS and Pikes Peak Chapter – Veteran Motorcar Club of America.
Terri Anderson: BA in Science and Psychology from the University of California. Terri was formerly Director of Operations at Silver Key Senior Services. Terri has trained nationally in the areas of family violence, collaboration, and coordinated community response and has been involved in a Department of Justice funded project to train law enforcement, district attorneys and judiciary on practices for successful prosecution of elder abuse and exploitation cases.
Cheryl Baeza: MSW from the University of Southern California. Cheryl is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the field for 30 years in a variety of settings. She is returning to the NAMI Board having served on the Board from 2000-2005. She is the past president of NAMI-CS, received the 2001 Leadership volunteer Award from Pikes Peak Chamber Nonprofit Partnership and 2001 Volunteer Award from Pikes Peak Mental Health. She has been involved with NAMI since 1993 in California and as Education Chair of NAMI. Cheryl worked as adjunct professor at Cal State Long Beach and Field Instructor at University of Southern California. She currently works part-time at Bridge to Awareness. Cheryl is the parent of six children in a blended family with her husband of 31 years.
Kimball Gardner: BA from Brigham Young University and Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa. Kim is a native of Colorado Springs and has been in the private practice of law for 30 years including Social Security mental disability cases and other injury cases. He is also on the Board of Directors of Westside Cares, a faith-based organization helping those in need on the west side of Colorado Springs. Kim and his wife Cindy have four children and six grandchildren.
Jim Horvat: BA from Metropolitan State University with a degree in History. Jim is a consumer advocate with Value Options and serves on the advisory the board of Haven House. He is the NAMI Connection support group facilitator.
Sid Nichols: Masters in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin. Sid is Program Manager for Career and Development Services at AspenPointe Enterprises. He has 30 years of experience with community based services which promote community inclusion and advocacy for individuals and families.
Sharon Signorelli: BS in Home Economics Education from Kansas State University. Sharon has worked as a transcriber/copy editor at Shepherd’s Citations, an elementary school librarian, and a junior high teacher. She has volunteered in schools, church, and quilt guild.



NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation’s voice on mental illness, a national organization including NAMI organizations in every state and in over 1100 local communities across the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission through advocacy, research, support, and education.
