What Is NAMI?
NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation’s voice on mental illness, a national organization including NAMI organizations in every state and in over 1100 local communities across the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission through advocacy, research, support, and education. |
 Volunteers are vital to the success of NAMI and its mission. It is volunteers who run the local affiliates, teach classes, lead support groups, do outreach and advertising, take mentoring calls and so much more. We also encourage you to become a member of NAMI Colorado Springs in order to support NAMI's free programs on a local, state and national level. By joining you will receive free newsletters and publications from NAMI Colorado Springs and NAMI National. You will also be joining the largest mental health grassroots organization in the country.
