About Ending the Silence
Ending the Silence is a 50-minute, in-school presentation about mental health that is offered for free to local high schools. The program is typically offered in a freshman/sophomore health, science or psychology classes and includes videos, discussion and presenter stories. Presenting teams always include one person under 30 years of age who is in recovery from mental illness, and students are encouraged to ask questions and learn personal truths about mental illness.

- statistics on how mental illness affects youth;
- personal perspectives on the experience of living with mental illness;
- recovery and coping strategies;
- resources to help students seek help for themselves or a friend;
- and ways to help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
On February 22, 2016, NAMI launched Ending the Silence at the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind. FOX21 was on hand to cover the story. The video is featured here.
