While mental illness knows no demographic boundaries, some populations do find it more difficult to access care.
If you’re a person of color, LGBTIQ+ and/or a military veteran, below are good places to start a mental health journey. The following online and/or brick-and-mortar resources all serve as community hubs of some kind, connecting people with a lot of population-specific information, resources and/or service providers.
You are also welcome to call the NAMI office at 719.473.8477 to discuss community resources. And please note: If you’re looking for an individual therapist, you may want to check out Psychology Today’s “Find a Therapist” tool. It allows visitors to search by ethnicity served, faith, gender, sexuality and more.
