About Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based, eight-hour mental health training for laypeople. It teaches participants around the world the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges or crisis, what to do in an emergency, and where to turn for help. Those who take the course to certify as Mental Health First Aiders learn a five-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care.
Mental Health First Aid can benefit a variety of audiences and key professions, including employers and business leaders, faith communities, school personnel and educators, state police and corrections officers, nursing home staff and others.
